He said to them.... "Come and see." (John, 1:39)
St. Thomas of Canterbury is affiliated with the Episcopal Church, which is a member of the world-wide Anglican Communion. Our Diocese - the Diocese of the Rio Grande - is part of the Episcopal Church USA's Province VII. The geographic area of the Diocese comprises all of New Mexico and the area of Texas between El Paso and Big Bend. Our Diocesan Bishop's office and staff are located in Albuquerque at The Bosque Conference and Spiritual Life Center.
The Rector is the chief pastor of the Parish. The Reverend Dr. Lin Lilley is our Interim Priest in Charge for the duration of our transition period. She will serve as the interim while the congregation searches for a new Rector following the retirement of Canon McGowan. An elected group of lay people serve as the Vestry, our Board of Directors. Together the Rector and Vestry manage the affairs of the parish.
The Vestry makes policy decisions regarding the overall life and direction of the parish and bears the ultimate responsibility for financial matters.
Vestry members are nine church laypersons, elected at annual congregation meetings to serve three-year terms. The Vestry elects a Junior Warden from among its own members. The parish Senior Warden is appointed by the Rector.
