Children's Education

Canterbury Kids Count!

Canterbury's Church School meets at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday morning and adjourns in time for the children
to join their parents in receiving Holy Communion.  Church School teachers are recruited from the congregation and work in teams of two to ensure that the needs of the children are met. Children are currently grouped into four classes:  preschool and elementary (age 3 through 5th grade), and middle/high school (6th grade and above).  Confirmation classes are presented as needed or as requested by students and parents. The classes combine from time to time to make Christmas cards or bake cookies for Prison Ministry; to decorate our Ofrenda for Dia de los Muertos; to make crafts and serve food for our annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser; and for other activities throughout the year.

Other popular parish
Sunday school events include an annual Easter Egg Hunt and a multi-generational Christmas cookie-baking party. St. Thomas is one of the Albuquerque-area Episcopal churches (along with St. John's Cathedral, St. Mark's-on-the-Mesa, St. Michael & All Angels and St. Chad's) that plans and participates in NW Deanery children's ministry activities such as Vacation Bible School and a "Palm Saturday" activity and worship event.
